(PORT JERVIS, NY) – Deerpark Supervisor Karl Brabenec, Deerpark Town Clerk Flo Santini, and Port Jervis Councilman Michael McCarthy joined other elected officials from throughout Orange County delivering meals to home-bound older adults on Friday morning in the Port Jervis/Deerpark area.

“We were honored to meet so many happy seniors this morning by participating in the Office for the Aging’s Home Delivered Meal Program,” said Supervisor Brabenec. “I commend all of the great volunteers that make this program a reality and I encourage the residents of my community to participate as well.  We hope that our participation will encourage others to volunteer for this crucial program that brings nutritional food to seniors that need it the most.”

According to the Office of the Aging, approximately 550 clients receive hot, noontime meals delivered by about 400 volunteers driving 68 different routes each weekday.  With more seniors needing to food delivery service, more volunteers are desperately needed.
