DEERPARK TOWN BOARD ADOPTS BUDGET WITH 0% TAX LEVY CHANGE IN 2013

For Immediate Release – November 20, 2012

(HUGUENOT, NY) – Supervisor Karl A. Brabenec has announced that the Deerpark Town Board unanimously adopted a 2013 budget Tuesday night with a 0% change in the tax levy from 2012. The board passed the budget after receiving a very positive review from the New York State Comptroller’s Office.

“I am so proud of this town board for adopting a budget which holds the line on taxes again, all while providing the critical and necessary services that our residents need and deserve,” said Brabenec.   “With all of the financial challenges that our government faces, we have all worked so hard to consistently find cost savings for the taxpayers, preserve a great quality of life for our residents and provide a more efficient government for all.”

The New York State Comptroller’s Office recently completed its annual review of the preliminary budget and provided a positive report to the town board recommending only minor changes. Next year’s budget preserves many of the programs that were provided this year such as the YMCA Summer Camp Program, town-wide Bulk Clean Up, senior programs, and senior shuttle service.  In addition, it puts an additional $250,000 for road improvements throughout the town.

“The town board will continue to search for cost savings throughout next year, we will be fiscally sound and will always do the right things for the taxpayers,” said Councilman David Hoovler.
